Garage Sale a Success AGAIN!

Posted: July 7, 2026

From Rita Grubb, Lead Volunteer for the Saugeen Hospice Annual Garage Sale.

Every year, I am amazed by what this community can accomplish when people come together for a common cause. This year was no exception.

After countless volunteer hours, our Team Garage Sale for Saugeen Hospice once again took what looked like complete chaos and transformed it into an organized, welcoming, and successful event. I couldn't be more proud of this incredible group of volunteers. Their dedication, energy, and willingness to do whatever needed to be done made this year's sale another huge success.

As the lead volunteer for this event, I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone who helped make it happen.

Thank you to our Agricultural Society for generously donating the building and providing us with a place to bring this event to life. Thank you to the hardworking members of LiUNA who kept the donation drop-offs moving smoothly and efficiently. Thank you to the Masons who helped set up and take down tables, saving all of us a lot of heavy lifting and sore muscles.

I am also deeply grateful to the Municipality of Brockton for providing a dumpster and then stepping in with a trailer and multiple trips to empty it when the dumpster filled faster than we ever imagined. Thank you to Bluewater Radio for helping spread the word throughout the region and encouraging people to come out and support the sale.

To everyone who brought food and refreshments for our volunteers, thank you. Your kindness kept us going through some very long days. To those who donated the wonderful items that filled the building, thank you for your generosity. And to everyone who came through the doors to shop, thank you for supporting Saugeen Hospice with your purchases.

The success of this event belongs to our entire community. Year after year, you continue to show us that you believe in the vision of a hospice residence for our area. Your support, whether through volunteering, donating, sponsoring, or shopping, is what makes this possible.

I am thrilled to share that this year's Garage Sale raised $38,574.90 for Saugeen Hospice Inc.

That number is simply incredible.

As a volunteer who has been fortunate enough to witness this project grow through the years, I can honestly say there is nothing more inspiring than seeing our community rally behind this cause. We are getting closer and closer to the day when shovels go into the ground, and this event has helped move us another significant step toward that goal.

On behalf of Team Garage Sale for Saugeen Hospice, thank you for believing in this dream and helping turn it into a reality.

With sincere gratitude,
Rita Grubb
