The Hike for Saugeen Hospice is a community-led fundraising and awareness event supporting the creation of a local hospice residence serving Brockton, Hanover, Minto, South Bruce, Southwestern West Grey, Southern Arran-Elderslie and surrounding areas.. Participants of all ages are invited to walk, hike, wheel and fundraise in honour of compassionate end-of-life care — helping ensure comfort, dignity, and support are available close to home when families need it most.
Our event takes place on the first Sunday in May, continuing the tradition of the national Hike for Hospice Palliative Care, joining communities across Canada in a shared commitment to hospice care, while keeping the focus firmly on building and sustaining hospice services for our own community.
Bring the whole family, this event is packed with fun for everyone, including children’s activities, entertainment, refreshments, and a welcoming atmosphere for your pets too!
This event features hikes in Durham, Hanover, Mildmay, Paisley and Walkerton. Respective hike maps and features will be available on the day of the hike. Details

Step Up, Team Up - Let's Build Saugeen Hospice!
Hike Day - Sunday, May 3rd, 2026
Hike Locations and Times:
- Durham 1:00 - 3:00 P.M. (Durham Conservation Area)
- 323198 Durham Road East, Durham ON
- It is accessible for strollers, wagons, wheelchairs, scooters, pet friendly(clean up after them).
- We will be have door prizes, face painting, kids craft table, Photo Booth, Live music (Larry Lesperance) and refreshments.
- Activities are held under covered area however the hike is Rain or shine, dress appropriately for weather.

- Hanover 1:00 - 3:00 P.M. (Hanover P&H Centre)
- There will be a free public swim at 1:00pm. with donations gratefully accepted.
- If the Hanover Barons continue to advance in the playoffs, have some fun by completing the Hike Triathlon - walk/skate/swim with free skating starting at 1 p.m..
- Jenn Olivero, Town Crier will start the opening ceremonies at 1 p.m..
- Lift Fitness Studio will lead the warm up for your hike/walk.
- A silent auction will be offered for some fun bidding.
- Hanover Lions Club outdoor BBQ
- Yoga by Yoga Barn at the family fun zone.
- There are options for an indoor track walk or outside neighbourhood walk.

- Mildmay 11:00 A.M. - 1:00 P.M. (Mildmay Carrick Community Centre)
- 11 a.m. to register.
- Hike the scenic trail network throughout Mildmay with stops at the Rotary Park and the Lions Park. Continue to the finish line at the Community Centre.

- Paisley 1:00 - 3:00 P.M. (Paisley Rotary Riverside Palace)
- Paisley Rotary Riverside Palace, 293 James Street Paisley
- 1 to 3 p.m.
- The Hike will start with a warm up, then onto enjoy the fully accessible trail and take in the beautiful scenery of the Saugeen River.
- Returning to the Paisley Rotary Riverside Palace to socialize, to enjoy a Hotdog BBQ, games for children,
- Silent Auction and of course the Great Reveal of all funds raised!
- Come prepared for Rainy Weather! Our Paisley FireFighters will be standing by for support!
- Walkerton 1:00 - 3:00 P.M. (Walkerton Agricultural Building)
- Hike the beautiful Walkerton riverfront trail supporting Hospice Care!
- Accessible for strollers, wagons, wheelchairs, scooters , and PETS! (Leashed of course.)
- First aid and water station will be at the halfway mark.
- Registration station will host a photo booth for group pictures, a wall display of art submitted by talented students from Walkerton District Community School and St. Theresa of Calcutta School and snack bar items for hikers to take and enjoy on the trail.
- Smokey the Bear or Sparky the fire dog may surprise us all!
- Clear skies and warm temperatures have been ordered for the day, but dress for the weather!
